In this role, Maelzer will lead the development and global execution of Therme Group’s next-generation of recreational experiences, redefining how dynamic water-based attractions are integrated into the broader landscape of wellbeing, across its growing portfolio of destinations worldwide.
A recognized pioneer in immersive, water-based attractions, Maelzer brings decades of experience at the intersection of innovation, engineering, and guest experience. Prior to joining Therme Group, he co-founded wiegand.maelzer GmbH, the company behind the signature attraction systems featured across Therme Group entertainment projects and previously served as President of WhiteWater ERA. He is also the co-inventor of industry-defining attractions including the award-winning SlideWheel and has been widely recognized for advancing the future of experiential entertainment, including being named an “Industry Icon” by ParkWorld Magazine and listed among blooloop’s 50 Theme Park Influencers.

In addition to his role as Chief Entertainment Officer, Maelzer will remain closely involved with Therme Ent GmbH, the specialized innovation and project company responsible for shaping the creative and operational foundation of Therme Group’s entertainment offerings globally. Serving as a centralized hub for innovation and expertise, Therme Ent oversees concept development, design coordination, project delivery, and long-term standards across quality, safety, and sustainability — ensuring a consistent, scalable, and globally distinctive identity across all Therme destinations.
